1 Playing on the Edge: An Observational Study of OKRummy, Traditional Rummy, and Aviator

This article reports an observational study comparing okrummy (an online rummy platform), traditional offline rummy, and the crash-style game aviator. By juxtaposing a skill-forward card game in both digital and in-person contexts with a rapid, probabilistic crash game, the study explores how design choices, social environments, and pacing shape player behavior and experience.

Methods Over a four-week period, we conducted naturalistic observations across three settings: (1) public tables in a neighborhood club where rummy was played face-to-face
