Rummy is one of the world’s most enduring card game families, recognized for its blend of probability, pattern recognition, and tactical decision-making. Melds typically include sequences (runs) and sets (groups of the same rank), with rules varying by variant. The most widely played modern forms in South Asia include Points Rummy, Pool Rummy, and Deals Rummy. Many versions require at least one "pure sequence" (a run without jokers) to declare a valid hand, a rule intended to preserve strategic depth and reduce purely luck-driven outcomes. The central decision loop is consistent: draw a card (from the open discard pile or closed deck), evaluate hand structure, and discard one card to optimize toward completion while limiting information given to opponents.
